300 Blankets presents Brains for Blankets 2013

On 28th of April 2013, 300 Blankets held the Brains for Blankets fundraising trivia night at Sofia’s Family Restaurant in Camberwell. The night was hosted by local comedian Andy Matthews who kept our guests highly entertained for the whole night. We were honored to have the President of Soup Vans Victoria – Br. Doug – speak on the topic of homelessness in Australia and the amazing part soup van volunteers play to support those experiencing a homelessness. Br. Doug’s emotional speech left the hall silent as everyone listened intently to the stories he had to share. It really brought home the reason why 300 Blankets exist and why we must continue to support the soup vans who do so much for the community.

Almost 200 people attended the night to participate in the trivia, mini games and silent auctions. It was wonderful to see all the laughter from the mini games and cries of success from getting the right answer for questions. With prizes donated by our generous supporters, all teams had their eyes on the amazing first prize. The winner of Brains for Blankets 2013 went to MYER IQ. Well done!

The most anticipated moment of the night – after announcing the winner of the trivia night – was announcing how many blankets was raised. With many thanks to everyone who attended and all of the supports, sponsors and volunteers who made the night possible, we raised enough to provide 681 blankets to people experiencing homelessness in Victoria this winter. Congratulations to all the winners on the night.
